MaxQ Tall Fescue Cool season perennial grass 25 lb. Endophytes
are important to a tall Fescue plant. The fungus aids the plant in being more
tolerant to heat and drought stress, plus adds tolerance to some insects and
disease. However the fungus produces toxins, which are harmful to livestock.
MaxQ endophyte provides all of the beneficial effects for the plant but does not
produce the harmful toxins. Grows very well where KY 31 is grown. Best adapted
to clay or clay loam soils. Tolerant to soil acidity and poor drainage, but
performs best on soils with good water holding capacity and a pH of 6.0 to 6.5.
Relatively tolerant to drought. Not suited to droughty, sandy soils. MaxQ
enhanced tall fescue provides excellent permanent pastures for cattle, sheep and
horses. When cut in early boot stage it also produces a very high quality hay
and provides high quality, abundant forage for a long period of time each year.
Highest productivity, September to December and March to June. Best practice is
to rest fescue pastures during the summer months. With good management practices
tall fescue can produce Crude Protein levels of 15-16 percent; TDN in the 60-62
percent range. However, environmental conditions and management practices will
determine individual results. For best results and benefit all toxic tall fescue
should be killed before trying to establish a stand of fescue with MaxQ. 20 lbs
per acre in prepared seedbed and 25 lbs. per acre sod seeded in stubble.
Southern and Southeastern States; Sept.1 to Nov.1 Mid-South, or spring planting
in March and April. A firm seedbed is important for good stand establishment.
You can drill into prepared firm seed bed, no-till drill into sod or broadcast
and pack in seed. Place seed at a depth of one quarter inch to one half inch,
but never deeper than one half inch. Do not graze or cut seedling stand until it
reaches 6 inches to 8 inches tall. Use only light rotational grazing in the
first year and never graze or cut closer than 2 inches. During periods of heat
and drought stress it is best to rotate cattle more frequently. Consult MaxQ

Select Tall fescue 50 lb. is a bunch-type grass, but will
spread slowly to form a dense sod. Tall fescue is a deep-rooted, cool-season,
perennial grass which works well for gully-healing and erosion control. Tall
fescue prefers the cool temperatures of spring and fall, and grows poorly in
mid-summer, which gives rise to the term 'summer slump'. It tolerates excessive
moisture and drought as well as acidic (pH 5.4 - 6.2), low fertility soils. It
does best on heavier soils, and is able to survive on fragipans. Livestock
grazing fescue may exhibit symptoms such as nervousness, rough hair coat,
elevated body temperature, reduced weight gain, and low conception rates.
Researchers have recently determined that these fescue toxicosis symptoms are
caused by the endophytic fungus Acremonium coenophialum. Select tall fescue is a
low endophyte variety. Plant at about 20 lbs per acre. 02132311
